Why we show our workings
Every rate in these tools carries the date it was checked and a link to the official source it came from (GOV.UK, DVSA, Ofgem, the FCA and the like). Car tax in particular changes every April, and a calculator running last year's numbers is worse than no calculator — it gives you a figure confident enough to budget against and wrong enough to matter.
