Question 1

How does Autoza work?

Accepted Answer

Autoza is a marketplace connecting vehicle buyers and sellers in the UK. Sellers list their vehicles for free, and buyers can search, compare, and contact sellers directly. We don't charge any commissions on sales.

Question 2

Is it safe to buy a car on Autoza?

Accepted Answer

Autoza shows who is selling each car: a dealer's profile carries the business name, address and contact details, so you can look the business up and read its reviews before you travel. The checks that protect you are the same as anywhere else: run a paid history check (HPI, the AA or the RAC) for finance, write-off and mileage records, check the free MOT history at gov.uk/check-mot-history, view the car in person, and never pay before you have seen it. Buying from a dealer also gives you rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that a private sale does not.

Question 3

How much does it cost to post a listing?

Accepted Answer

Posting listings on Autoza is free for private sellers. Dealers get full access free for their first 12 months, with no card and no contract.

Question 4

What is Trust Score?

Accepted Answer

It is a number out of 100 attached to each account on Autoza. For a dealer it starts at a value set when the account is created. A few one-off events, such as confirming an email address or phone number, can add points, but no job recalculates it from how the dealer trades and it is not a rating. It is not currently worked out from buyer reviews, response times, listing quality or sales history. It is not a safety check on a car either, so look the dealer up, run a history check and view the car before you pay.

Question 5

Can I sell motorcycles and vans besides cars?

Accepted Answer

Yes, on Autoza you can buy and sell all types of vehicles: cars, motorcycles, vans, motorhomes, caravans, and trucks. The platform is designed to adapt to any vehicle type with specific fields for each category.

Question 6

How do I contact a seller?

Accepted Answer

Once you find a vehicle you're interested in, you can contact the seller directly through our internal messaging system. You need to create a free account to send messages. You can also see the seller's phone number if they've published it.

Question 7

What documents do I need to buy a used car in the UK?

Accepted Answer

To buy a used car in the UK you need: the V5C registration certificate (logbook), a valid MOT certificate (for cars over 3 years old), the service history, a signed receipt or bill of sale, and valid photo ID. Make sure the vehicle has no outstanding finance and matches its V5C details. You can check the MOT history free at gov.uk/check-mot-history and run a paid history check (HPI, AA or RAC) for finance, write-off and mileage records.

Question 8

Can I finance a vehicle purchase?

Accepted Answer

Autoza doesn't arrange finance itself, but some dealers on Autoza offer finance such as PCP (Personal Contract Purchase) and HP (Hire Purchase) — ask the dealer directly, and check the lender or broker is authorised on the FCA Register before you sign. You can also ask your bank or building society about a personal loan.

Question 9

How can I verify a vehicle's history before buying?

Accepted Answer

Check the MOT history free at gov.uk/check-mot-history, and run a paid vehicle history check through HPI, the AA or RAC to see previous owners, mileage records, outstanding finance and write-off (Cat S/N) status. Match the VIN and registration on the car to the V5C logbook.

Question 10

What is Mark AI?

Accepted Answer

Mark is Autoza's AI car-buying assistant. He's built into every dealer listing on Autoza and is available 24/7 to answer buyer questions about a vehicle — spec, finance, MOT history, road tax (VED) and how it compares to similar cars on the market. Mark understands UK-specific details like MOT cycles, VED bands and UK registration plates.
